First off I want to say there are more than 4 sleepers I could talk about but I’m not going to allow my friends to use all my knowledge against me. I’m competitive, if you are like me you probably gamble a little bit when you play fantasy football. Thank you “sweet baby jesus” that the lockout is over, what was I going to do without fantasy football? Do fantasy college football? Naw, not me.
I picked one quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end. I consulted with my homie Mr. Ross after about 10 emails back and forth I came up with this list. It took some time to edit the list and he cussed me out on two of my original picks but after chopping it up, I was able to make some smart choices (at least I think so).
These four positions are the most important positions in fantasy football, I left the kicker and defense off of this list because that is like a mix and match kind of option. Just in case you don’t know what a “sleeper” is in fantasy football terms it’s not a player that is sleep on the bench or a cat who is in the locker room taking a nap, no, a sleeper is a player you can select at a certain round that would be considered a steal if he is able to perform at the level you think he will during the season.
Quarterback – Matt Stafford, Detroit, “if” and that’s a big “if” Stafford can stay healthy, drafting him as your 2nd qb or taking him in the later (6-9) rounds as your 1st qb would be a steal. With Megatron as his receiver he can blow up, might be a 2nd tier type qb this year.
Running back – Shonn Greene, NY Jets, I gambled heavy on Greene last year and he burnt thee shit out of me. With ”LT” a year older and the Jets being a run heavy team I think this is the year were Greene “is about to blow up” I would invest a 2nd back pick on him I’d say between 4-7 rd.
Wide receiver – Early Doucett, Arizona, Early has battled injuries throughout his career buried behind Breaston and Boldin for a few yrs, the stars are aligned for this former college standout to be the wing man for Larry Fitzgerald this year. A huge plus is the Cards traded for Kevin Kolb, and although I’m not a huge Kolb fan he has to be better than the qb’s they threw out on the field last year. I think Doucet can be a had in the later rds which to me is rd 10 or later. If you can get him as your 4th wr I think he will out perform that role.
Tight end – Jimmy Graham, New Orleans, “no not the comedian” but he plays for the Saints with Shockey gone to the Panthers, Graham is a lock to become a top-tier TE as he plays with Drew Brees. Most drafts have a TE run where one goes then the others start going faster than Usain Bolt on a relay. It’s safe to say anywhere between the 6-9 rd would be good a good area to draft Graham.
These are the sleepers I picked with the of the mysterious Mr. Ross. If you agree, disagree or indifferent feel free to leave a comment.
