Football season is right around the corner, so you know what time it is? Yes, fantasy football time, last year we did are top 4 sleepers and it didn’t turn out half bad. Matt Stafford and Jimmy Graham showed out so I didn’t feel half bad about my predictions. The only thing that sucked is I didn’t get Graham in all my leagues.
So with the fun we had in picking 4 sleepers last year we are back to pick 4 more for the 2012 season. Hopefully the sleepers we picked last year helped you win some money if not my bad homies.
QB Josh Freeman, Tampa Bay Buccanneers- This year it was tough to pick a sleeper QB, I was going to roll with Cutler but he has put up big numbers before so I had to scratch that. Freeman is heading into his 4th season and it is a make or break season for the QB to prove he can be the face of the franchise. He had a solid 2nd season but took a huge step back last year where he had over 20 picks. With the addition of Vincent Jackson, Freeman should be able to have very good fantasy value depends on the type of league you are in he could be a 2nd tier starter or great back up. I wouldn’t jump the gun on him but if you have to wait to draft a QB he would be a high risk high reward pick.
RB Donald Brown, Indianapolis Colts- With Joe Addai gone, Brown is scheduled to be the workhorse of the backfield. He has a rookie QB, so all signs point to the Colts offense to lean on Brown to help ease their new QB’s growing pains. Brown will be a threat running the ball and receiving. I would feel strong if you took him as your 2nd back, by the season’s end he may end up putting up number 1 back numbers.
WR Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons- I know picking Julio as a sleeper is a stretch because everybody knows who he is. He had a few nagging injuries during his 1st year so he didn’t put up the numbers the Falcons had planned on him to achieve. Honestly with Roddy White on the other side if Julio stays healthy and Ryan plays at a steady level, Julio will be a number 1 option as a receiver in fantasy football land.
TE Jermaine Gresham, Cincinnati Bengals- With the departure of Jerome Simpson and a slew of young receivers the person who will benefit the most will be Gresham. With A.J. Green on the field it will leave a lot of open space underneath for the athletic TE. If you can’t get the sure fire TE’s look Gresham’s way in the mid to late rounds in the draft he has the potential to perform at the same level as your Graham’s and Gronk’s.
Good luck all fantasy football players, let us know how you feel about this years sleepers and what sleepers are you banking on?
