Week 16 has been a good week for a lot of people. Four records were broken between Saturday and Sunday. Some records got more spotlight than the others which makes sense. Let’s highlight the records that were broken with another week of action left in the regular season.
Most Rookie Passing Yards
New Holder: Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts, 2012, 4,183 yards
Cam just held this record for a one year, Luck beat the record with a week left so he should have a nice cushion for the next rookie to climb. This just shows how much better trained the QB’s are coming to the league nowadays.
Most Receiving Yards in a Season
New Holder: Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions, 2012, 1892 yards
Megatron taking down the great Jerry Rice’s record with another game to play is crazyyyy. Megatron not only broke the record he is the first player I can remember who has also beaten the madden curse.
Most Rookie Rushing Yards (Cleveland Browns)
New Holder: Trent Richardson, Cleveland Browns, 2012, 950 yards
Hell of a record to beat especially after Brown said Richardson would be a bust at the beginning of the season. I’m pretty sure Brown has had a change of mind. Trent still has a game to go to add on to the record but Brown only played in a 12 game schedule. So all in all the Brown record is more impressive but still give Richardson some love because he damn sure doesn’t look like a bust.
Sidenote: Trent also has the most Rookie TD’s in Browns history with 11 TDs to Brown’s 9′s.
Most Tight End Receptions in a Season
New Holder: Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys, 2012, 103
Witten like the other three has also beat the previous record with a week left in the season. Witten is an underrated TE but you can’t knock him when it comes to the greats this just gives him a piece of history no matter how long he keeps the record.
Congrats to all four players.
