It happened again. We all knew it was possible but nobody wanted to believe it would happen this early into the season especially with all his hard work and taking an often criticized full season away from the game.
Sadly Derrick Rose faces another major injury that will require surgery after straining the meniscus in his right knee Friday night battling the Portland Trailblazers. It came in the third quarter as he awkwardly hurt the leg then was seen limping to the locker room with assisted help from Chicago’s training staff.
After an MRI revealed Saturday he injured the meniscus in his right knee news broke Sunday that it would require surgery. Just like that in three days the Bull’s went from their messiah shaking off the rust, to him being on crutches again something they have become painfully used to.
As a person but especially a sports fan you just hate to see a guy go down like that. Defeat on the court happens but seeing a craft being taken from such a bright talent is difficult. Now a franchise with over 100 million dollars invested in Rose is left naked.
They probably would not have beat Miami with a healthy Rose but they won’t even be in the same gym as Miami without him literally. Do they attempt to blow up their core now that there superstars health will be in question for the remainder of his career? With two major leg injuries to an athlete who relies so heavily on quickness and explosion I can’t help but to start to think of other stars whose careers were shortened by injuries.
Grant Hill is the poster boy for the term “what could have been” with countless surgeries and rehab time logged. Just Google his numbers and checkout his highlights on you tube. He was slated to be the next “Michael” before the injuries as well as T-Mac. While they achieved greatness in basketball true fans understand we never saw the best of them. First the fat boys break up now D Rose is on the sideline again! This one hurts.
