How some of these free agent signings will effect Madden 14

Free agency is great for teams make improvements, some over spend, some under spend and some cut or trade your favorite players. It’s apart of the ugly cycle but some of these moves improve your team on Madden more than in real life and that’s what I’m here for today.

In my free time I play Madden just as much as the next person and after every free agency period you know that some teams that nobody played with last year online on a regular basis will get more burn during the newest copy of Madden.

Madden 11 it was an Eagles craze when they signed Michael Vick. Everybody played with them no matter how many times you played the game you would have to battle this team 90% of the time. With Vick having a cannon and being able to take off all of the novice players wanted to run with them.

Madden 12 I can’t remember who the free agent was that everybody went crazy over but I remember playing the Panthers and Raiders a lot because of two rookies: Terrelle Pryor and Cam Newton.

Madden 13 it was a 49ers craze because of the signing of Randy Moss. I’m a 9ers fan and I’ve never seen so many people pick the 9ers when I already had them chose. I know the team has had a resurgence the last two years but it’s crazy online trying to run with them.

I’m going to give you a few teams you will get tired of playing against in Madden 14:

Miami Dolphins: Miami cashed out WR Mike Wallace. Wallace is one of the fastest people on Madden so you know people will be trying to play with them. You may wonder where all of these Dolphin fans came from. They also signed TE Dustin Keller and made some improvements on their defense.

bushDetroit Lions: Not only do they already have Megatron but they signed Madden king RB Reggie Bush. Bush has been playing solid in real life but he’s always been a Madden asset. Reggie will be returning kicks, punts and getting on your nerves every time you play this team.

Philadelphia Eagles: Any team with Vick will always get mass Madden burn. Everyone thought Vick was on the first ticket out of Philly but the signing of HC Chip Kelly gave Vick new life and will be terrorizing Madden players on a normal basis. They also made some improvements on defense signing S Kenny Phillips, LB Connor Barwin and DT Issac Sopoaga.

grant_madden_smitha_576Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs signed corners Sean Smith and Donta Robinson which will help that secondary make some plays. The best move besides locking up WR Dwayne Bowe was trading for QB Alex Smith which will get the Chiefs a QB with a rating between 85-90 overall. Hell of a come up over Cassel. With the weapons that team has don’t be shocked if you play them a lot.

Seattle Seahawks: The Hawks traded for swiss army knife speedster Percy Harvin. People love speed and this move give them a lot of Madden speed plus a mobile QB smh. They also signed two legit defensive ends in Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett. Be on the lookout for these guys.

I don’t know if these moves will work in real life but all these teams will get on your nerves on Madden 14 trust me. Free agency is still booming so let us know if you agree with my analysis. If you don’t play Madden it may be hard to put your two cents in but all feed back is good feed back.

What We Learned During Week 2 of the NFL Season

This week did not disappoint with great games across the board. There were a lot of high and lows during the football week. Take a look at what we learned this week. Some things are new, and some are the obvious. Enjoy!

The San Francisco 49ers are LEGIT- Sorry for the homer pick, but the Niners looks like the class of the NFL. The Defense is superb, and the offense is efficient. Things will only continue to get better as the team will add Brandon Jacobs,  Teddy Ginn, and LaMichael James to an already potent offense.

Patience is Virtue- High school teammates Reggie Bush and Alex Smith are making the naysayers be quiet. Bush and Smith were criticized heavily due to their lack of production on the field. Being drafted No.1 (Smith) and No.2 (Bush) respectively people expected superstar results instantly. A change of scenery has helped Bush flourish, and the arrival of Jim Harbaugh has turned Alex Smith to one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the NFL.  It looks like the two players are living up to their draft status after all.

C.J. Spiller is here to stay- C.J. Spiller has taken full advantage of Fred Jackson’s injury and will likely remain as the starting running back when Jackson returns. Spiller is leading the NFL with 292 yards, and is averaging over 10 yards per carry which is insane.  Since Spiller has become the focal point of the offense opposing defenses will look to stop him. Can he keep up his strong play?

Michael Vick has the clutch gene- Yes Michael Vick turned the ball over quite a bit for the second week in a row, but like in Cleveland when the game was on the line No. 7 delivered. If the Eagles can fix their turnover issues they will be a force to be reckoned with.

The Cleveland Rookies are not that shabby- Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson flashed their potential against the Bengals. Though they took a lost Richardson and Weeden played at a very high level. This should give Cleveland fans something to be excited about in the future.

Andrew Luck is the real Deal- Andrew Luck had the rookie blues last week, but in his first victory of the season Luck looked great and orchestrated the Colts down the field to lead them to the game winning field goal. Luck may not ever be as good as Manning, but he will be a damn good quarterback.

The Return of the Choppa City Juke- The best touchdown dance ever besides “The Deion” graced our television screens this past Sunday. Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver Jacoby Jones delivered the dance in perfect fashion.  With the Jacksonville Jaguars eliminating touchdown dances, and the uncertainty of how Chris Johnson would come back I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t see it. S/O to Jacoby Jones for handling that for me! lol.

Jay Cutler is still a brat- I feel Cutler’s pain, but you cannot air your teammates out to dry like that. The Quarterback is supposed to be a position that is an extension of the head coach, and his behavior on the sideline was uncalled for.

The Replacement Referees SUCK- No explanation needed.

New Orleans= Death to running backs

The New Orleans Saints have been one of the best passing teams in the NFL since they signed Drew Brees after the 05 season. The ultimate proof is Brees recently broke Dan Marino’s passing yards in a season record. The old record was 27 years old and the astonishing amount that was set by Marino was 5,084 yards. The new record is 5,476 now thanks to Drew Brees, also I want to give him congrats on setting the new record but it also brought up one question? If you’re a running back do you want to play for the Saints?

I’ve done some research thanks sports-reference.com since Brees has been the QB for the Saints they have only had one 1,000 yard rusher. During his tenure he hasn’t thrown under 4,300 yards so that’s great for the receivers and for fantasy football owners, but do you even remember who that last thousand yard rusher was? It was Deuce McAllister and ironically it was Brees first year with the team.

I’m not blaming Brees for the lack of a 1,ooo yard rusher but after that year something changed for the Saints they started using multiple backs anywhere from 2 to 4 per season. The recent success of Reggie Bush with the Dolphins made me think, hey maybe it’s not the running backs it’s the system. If you know your only going to get 10-15 touches a game you are more likely to try for the big play than let things come to you and get the hard 2-3 yard gain. Bush ran for 1,000 yards with the Dolphins and he missed a few games due to injury. A lot of us labeled him a bust myself included, I still believe he hasn’t lived up to the 2nd pick of the draft but this year he has proven the NO was like a running back jail.

The Saints just drafted  Heisman winning running back Mark Ingram and he is use to being the man in the backfield but with the Saints he is trapped in a 3 to 4 man rotation(Ingram, Thomas, Sproles and Ivory). Even thought Ingram and Bush are two different type of running backs it seems like they will have the same fate while being Saints backs. Both have had bright spots but with not enough consistent touches either will be able to be a marque back in the league.

Honestly I feel Pierre Thomas if given the opportunity could be an every down back also but he also is caught in running back hell. He has put up solid numbers for a person who doesn’t get a main backs workload i.e. like AP or Chris Johnson.

The Saints are a good team but if you don’t want a premature death as a running back don’t sign their. Save yourselves you don’t want to be buried alive like Ingram and Thomas are currently you see once Bush was set free how his production jumped. Yeah it’s not a coincidence save yourself unless you are a receiver. Stay away from running back hell.

Week 3: Really? 7-29-11

So the NFL is back. Really? Like there was ever a chance of there not being a season. You a have a better chance of seeing the formation of the WNFL than not seeing football this season or any season in the near future. Really! The return of the NFL led to a frenzy of signings and salary cap dumps and the first major move was, Tavaris Jackson to the Seatle Seahawks. Really? With all the possible options on the board the Seahawks put their money on Jackson. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad to see Jackson get another shot but if you wanted to get an athletic, but inaccurate QB, Vince Young would have probably been the better choice. I mean he does have 30 victories, 2 pro bowls visits, a Rookie of the Year award, and a college National Championship. I think Pete Carroll is still bitter that Young beat his Trojans in that National tittle game. Really? So Vince Young will be out of work but Matt Lienert will have a job with guaranteed money. Really? Continue reading
