Serena Williams Wins At Wimbledon

The female athlete has come along way since the earlier years in sports. Today women play a huge role in sports whether it is coaching, playing, or even commentating. Sports as a whole has improved its gender biased standards and let women evolve into amazing athletes.

Serena Williams is one of the women who has helped transition the perception of female athletes. Williams recently won her fifth Wimbledon title as a single, and she teamed up with her sister Venus to win their fifth doubles crown.

Williams has not been at the top of her game prior to winning at Wimbledon Williams suffered from medical complications, depression, and not so up to par playing on the tennis court.  The win yesterday gave Williams a refreshing feeling and you could witness it in her celebration.

Williams who is normally emotional and passionate fell to the ground after her match had concluded.  It was an emotional roller coaster for the Wimbledon champ. This win was bigger the match itself.  Serena Williams legacy in Women’s tennis is already cemented as one of the greats, but with ten total Wimbledon titles (single & double) she has a chance to be the greatest that her sport has ever seen.  With power, grace, and intimidation Williams looks to continue her sweep of awards throughout her career.

It seems like her biggest competition is herself. In some cases it takes someone to hit rock bottom for them to succeed again. At age 30 Williams has many years left to dominate her sport. Only time will tell how things will end when she hangs up the tennis ball and racket.

  1. Man she is still dominate. If it wasn’t for unforced errors this match wouldn’t even have been close. She def will go down as one of the best to have even done it
