Dez is growing up right before our eyes

There has never been a question about Desmond “Dez” Bryant’s talent but everything else has been in question. From his time in college where he had to miss most of his last season because a dinner he received, to getting asked a question if he mom was a street-walker during the NFL combine (which was totally out of line), to be questioned about being out of shape, not knowing his option routes and hot reads, the altercation with his mother that led to the law being called and to security gate. A lot of people were wondering is Dez worth this trouble. Which was a legitimate question on both sides of the coin.

Since about the mid-point of the season the light has clicked for talented Bryant. The last 5 games he has 7 touchdowns and has eclipsed the 1000 yard mark for the first time in his career. After helping the Cowboys comeback to beat the Bengals in Cincy it was noted that Dez has a broken index finger on his left hand. When everybody found out about the news a lot of people thought that would lead him to the IR list which would have shut him down for the season. With the Cowboys right in the thick of the playoff race that would’ve been a big blow to the up and down Cowboys. Dez who didn’t want to let his team down sought out multiple opinions to see if he could play through the injury. The Cowboys received great news that Dez will be able to give it ago the rest of the season, which is a big shot in the arm for a team who has been decimated by injury. Dez will be rocking a custom glove protecting the injured finger but he still will be in a lot of pain.

Say what you want about Dez and his past but this move is very selfless. Hopefully he can be productive for his team but not you still can’t knock the effort put forth. Seems like he is taking the steps to be the elite receiver the Cowboys thought he would be when drafting him.
