Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Agrees to Fight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez

Oscar De La Hoya v Floyd Mayweather Jr.It would be wise to mark September 14th on your calendars. Floyd “Money” Mayweather agreed that he will face off against the new sensation Saul Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas at the world famous MGM Grand. Floyd Mayweather is 44-0 and Alvarez is 42-0-1 which means that somebody will get their first loss.

Alvarez has the WBC 154lb title, and Mayweather has the WBA title. This is a fight where both fighters have so much on the line so it is expected to be a thriller. Mayweather who fought his last fight at 147lbs is going up to 154lbs to meet Alvarez in his weight class.

Mayweather is capable of fighting at many weights and last fought in that weight class dominating against Miguel Cotto in 2012.  Boxing fans will be on edge for this thrilling match up. Mayweather and Alvarez are coming off of convincing wins against Roberto Guerrero and Austin Trout respectively.

Canelo Alvarez v Shane Mosley

Mayweather has 14 years on Alvarez, but Alvarez has fought 43 bouts which is only one less than Mayweather. With contrasting boxing styles it will be interesting to see the outcome of the fight.

The world is rooting against Mayweather, but despite the hate that Mayweather receives you cannot deny his greatness. Alvarez is more of a low key type of guy, but don’t let the quiet look fool you. With all of that said I just hope to see a great fight.

Both fighters will get a huge pay day from the contest. If I were a betting man I would roll with Mayweather, but hey what do I know?

We have almost four months until the fight starts it will be interesting seeing the chatter between both camps.

September 14 needs to hurry fast!
