Can Adrian Peterson Do it Again?

Can Adrian Peterson top his incredible 2012 season as top running back and player in the league? He capped last season with two awards as the NFL MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the year. He led the Minnesota Vikings back to the playoffs after missing the year prior. He fell just nine yards shy of Eric Dickerson’s single season all-time record with 2,097. These achievements all came after Peterson missed the last four games of the 2011 season injuring both his ACL and MCL. Those injuries equal almost an automatic decline in athletes but in particular running backs because they play possibly the most brutal position in football period. Minnesota did add wide receiver Greg Jennings and drafted receiver Cordarrelle Patterson to help put weapons around Peterson and lessen the load. However with no upgrade at the quarterback position this off-season (Christian Ponder) it seems that Peterson’s touches will be there. Now here is the scary part. Running backs typically bounce back to original form in the second season after major leg surgery, See Jamaal Charles and Garrison Hearst. With AP not missing one game in 2012 and a whole injury free off-season to nurse his body 2013 could potentially be an even bigger season than 2012. He ranks number 33 on the All-time rushing list after being drafted in 2007 with 8,849 yards. He is 28 years old just entering the prime of his career and the mental part of bouncing back from major surgery sports experts tend to speak of seems to be 2,097 yards long gone from memory for AP. We may be on the verge of a record breaking season including his own, and everyone else.

  1. I’m extremely excited to see AD (All Day lol) and his 2013-14 performance. I think he may break 2150 this season. He has the best size and speed since Bo Jackson and vision since Barry. This season is going to show quite a bit for Mr. Peterson and I’m hype to see it.
