Turner to the Pacers = Versatile Insurance Policy

On Thursday before the deadline the Pacers made another slight power move by trading for Evan Turner. Nobody really knew the Pacers were looking to make a move. I always thought they should try to make a play for Andre Miller, but Larry Bird pulled out the ace with this move. It’s all about that championship at the end of the season and this move proves the Pacers mean business.

Trade Breakdown

Indiana Pacers get:

G/F Evan Turner
F Lavoy Allen

Philadelphia 76ers

G/F Danny Granger
2nd round draft pick in ’15

The Pacers get a guy who can create off the dribble, a decent mid range and insurance for Stephenson and George off the bench. Turner is also off season insurance for the Pacers if they can’t resign Stephenson because Turner is a restricted free agent. I personally think this move helps the Pacers at point guard. I don’t trust Hill or Watson, but now Turner can help with those duties and that’s a huge win for the Pacers. Allen also provides a capable big man body if needed.

The 76ers got more assets and no ties after this season to Granger. Who knows if Granger will finish the rest of the season with the ‘6ers.

I think this was a great move by the Pacers. The Heat should be checking for these boys because they ain’t playing.
