With March Madness in full affect and both my brackets sliding out my work tournaments like that “Drake meme” a few months back I started thinking. Has the NCAA bracket become the worlds biggest sports spectacle, Super bowl included? The World series always has a huge following, but it doesn’t draw non baseball fans in. The same with the Stanley cup playoffs, and Wimbledon.

The Super bowl has long been king, but it last one night, and half the following is for the commercials. I think the NBA finals is rising again after a dip from the Jordan era in large part to social media but again it’s after a drawn out playoffs and non basketball fans leave it alone.

March Madness unites millions from coworkers to bloggers to high school kids for three weeks. It ignites the gambling world as well as general excitement because one and done puts all the pressure on the well known teams with big names and allows us to appreciate the teams we have to Google to find i.e. (Mercer, Davidson).

We still have a lot of basketball to be played with who knows what in store but in my Bart Scott voice “Can’t wait!”
