3rd Annual Local Legends Shootout Recap

For those who didn’t attend this game, you my friends were slipping. The Blue team who was managed by Tony Dixon and Daequan Cook respectively faced off with the White team who was managed and coached by Darran Powell and Norris Cole respectively. Being at the scorer’s table, gave me access to a lot of heckling going on between players and coaches. Man my stomach hurt by halftime from all the jokes being slung around by all parties involved.

The White team led by Geron Johnson took the lead into halftime, but Steve and Cashmere Wright were not to be denied as they led the Blue team to a 106-100 win. Johnson and both Wright’s went for 30 plus on Saturday. Johnson showed off his jumper and explosive leaping ability at will. Cash got into the lane at will and showed off an assortment of shots. Steve, the MVP of the game, was killing it especially from 3. He hit multiple 4 point plays a la Jamal Crawford to help ice the game in crunch time.

Other players who also showed out: Deonta Vaughn couldn’t miss from 3; Joe Ballard finished multiple dope Headache passes and finished them Blake Griffin style; Carl Edwards showed he still had a jumper and bounce and others did their thing as well, but off the top of my head those are the players who stood out.

It was a very nice event teachers and coaches were honored with awards, there were giveaways for the fans in the crowd and most importantly everyone had fun.

Shoutout to Chuck Richardson and crew for putting together a great event, make sure y’all check out The Front Office News for information on next years event.
