Goodell-Winked

So after all the shenanigans finally the truth comes to light. An unnamed law enforcement official has reported that the league did receive a copy of the second Ray Rice video in April to help give the NFL something more to go on when handing out Rice’s punishment. The official also had a 12 second voice mail from a NFL number and the voice was that of an unnamed female official confirming that the video had been received.

Tuesday NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, proclaimed to the world in his CBS interview that no one in the league offices had seen the video until released earlier this week. Those statements drew an uproar from the football community as to how the NFL couldn’t get its hands on the video with all of its law enforcement and legal connections. The public has called for the resignation of Goodell in light of his fumble – rooski  when dealing with entire Ray Rice fiasco.  But to know that the tape was sent and more than likely someone viewed the tape now cast doubt on Goodell’s integrity and the lengths he would go to sweep the situation under the rug.

I’ll be the first to say that since Goodell became commissioner back in 2007 the league has not been the same. He came in like the ultimate dictator and became known as judge and jury when dealing with on and off the field incidents. The mandates and stiff punishments he handed down only proved that he was the new sheriff in town and a force to be reckoned with. Well known owner such as Robert Kraft stuck his neck out in defending the commissioner on this subject and now will have to eat humble pie in light of the new information reported today.  So now that the truth has surfaced Mr. Goodell just do the right thing and step down. Don’t make it hard on yourself. Because no one and I mean no one is bigger the NFL SHIELD including you sir.
