I was wrong about Chip Kelly

If you know me, you know I was very adamant that Chip Kelly wouldn’t be a good coach in the NFL. I argued with all of my friends when I heard Chip was being touted by NFL teams to become their new coach. I went on to say stuff like in two years max he will be coaching in college again because the NFL will eat his style alive and after a little over a year of sample size it seems I was very wrong.

Even though I know the jump to the NFL was because Chip knew the NCAA was about to come down on his then Oregon Ducks, it has seemed to be the right move. Kelly’s teams are known for its fast pace and speed. In college you have a lot more active players so you can get away with a more fast pace style because of the amount of bodies you have at your disposal. In the NFL Kelly has made adjustments to the lack of bodies while still playing at a faster pace than most. A lot of people call it fast break football.

Nick Foles and LeSean McCoy have been huge benefactors to the new style offense. The Philadelphia Eagles as a whole have benefited greatly in the infusion of change by Chip. The Eagles made the playoffs last year and in the weak NFC East are early favorites to represent that division again. After two comeback victories the Eagles have started the season 2-0 which bodes well for Eagles faithful. The Eagles were 10-6 last year and currently 2-0, so unless Chip and the Eagles have a huge meltdown he is making me eat my words.

Hey, a real man can admit when he’s wrong right? I’m wrong Chip Kelly your style has worked in the NFL. *Walks away with my tail between my legs* I’ll bounce back.
