Me and Marcelus Joiner did some join interviews with a few of the fighters after the “Friday Night Fights” event was over. After a 2nd round knockout of Rudy Payne, Jayvon Garnett gave us a few minutes to ask a few a questions.

JT = How long had you been training for the fight?
JG = My first pro fight was in May, so I had been training since the end of that fight.
JT = How was it fighting in a bigger arena (Bank of Kentucky Center) tonight?
JG = That’s probably the difference between me and everybody else, I’ve been performing on stages from dancing and singing in school all my life. I’m use to these big stages. MJ= you are like the renaissance man! JG = I love the lights.
JT = What do you do besides boxing for fun?
JG = I got two children, so I like to have fun with them, make them laugh and do whatever to provide for them that’s fun to me.
MJ = You showed a lot of power, is that natural or more work in the gym?
JG = It natural and work the gym. Hard work beats talent so my work in the gym helps with my natural power.
MJ = When is your next fight?
JG = They are telling me November 7th. So hopefully then, but I stay in the gym so whenever I get that call I’ll be ready.
