Friday Night Fights 2: Recap

R&R Promotions has done it again, this time at The Horseshoe Casino. Tonight we watched Aaron Hollis move to 3-0 (3 KO) in his professional career as he KO’d Anthony Dunn of Wilson, NC, who was making is pro debut, at the 1:56 mark of the first round. Power and precision once again proved to be the dominant force in this victory just as it was last month when he fought at The Bank of Kentucky Arena.

In the second fight of the night Mikail Trayman Jones of Cincinnati made his professional debut against Tyrin Alston of Wilson, NC, who was also making his professional debut. Jones showed poise and confidence as he dismissed Alston :41 seconds into the first round to claim victory in his first pro fight.

Next, Jayvon Garnett, who was featured in our last Friday Night Fight post, moved to 3-0 ( 3 KO) as he made quick work of Dikeem Robinson of Wilson, NC, making his professional debut, :58 seconds into the first round. Garne
tt is a fighter to keep an eye on in Cincinnati, as he continues to show potential as he flashes mass amounts of power in the welterweight division.

The fight off the night featured heavyweights, undefeated hometown fighter Danny Calhoun 5-1( 3 KO) vs Samer Barakat 4-0 ( 3 KO) of Ottawa, Canada. Calhoun didn’t show the same aggression and dominance as he did when he fought at The Bank of Kentucky Arena. Ultimately Calhoun suffered his first loss as a professional by unanimous decision to Samer Barakat who moved to 4-0 in the heavyweight division.

Last, but not least heavyweight David Long 12-5-1 of Cincinnati fought Grover Young of Memphis, TN. This fight was scheduled for 6 rounds, but ended 2:18 into the second round when Long, who was knocked down once was KO’d by Young on a flurry of hooks upstairs. Grover now moves to 9-5-1 in the heavyweight division.

It was announced tonight that Adrien “The Problem” Broner will once again fight in his hometown of Cincinnati sometime in January 2015, opponent to be announced.

  1. Garnett came out on a mission.. I didn’t expect Calhoun to lose.. And why does everybody in Cincinnati know who Day Day is but us? In the fight is going down at US Bank arena..
