Recap: Northern Kentucky vs North Carolina A&T

Northern Kentucky Norse and North Carolina A&T Aggies faced off at the The Bank of Kentucky Center on Wednesday. Coming into the game the Norse were 0-2, while the Aggies were 1-1.

During the first half it was all Norse all the time. Led by sharpshooting guard Cole Murray with 15 points on 5/7 shooting from three in the he first half. Following Murray was Todd Johnson with 6 points all from deep. The Norse defense was very active during the first half and cause chaos to the Aggies offensive system.

The Aggies were led by guard Ahmad Abdullah a stat line of 5 points, 3 rebounds and an assist. There wasn’t much going right in the first half for the Aggies.

The Norse lead 33-16 at the end of the first half.

The second half was tightly contested as the Aggies won the half 39-35. Aggie Forward Bruce Beckford scored 15 of his 19 points int he second half. Beckford finished with 19 points on 6 of 11 shooting, 3 of 4 from three, 4 of 4 from the free throw line, 5 rebounds and a block. Guard Austin Williams was scored all of his 10 points in the second half. The Aggies played a lot better in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the bad first half.

The Norse had two players step up big time in the second half. Those two players were Tayler Persons and Jalen Billups. As the first half was all about Cole Murray the second half was all about Persons and Billups as they both finished with 13 points a piece. The Norse were able to capture their first win of the season by knocking off the Aggies 68-55.

The Norse are now 1-2 and the Aggies are now 1-2 to start the season.

Notes:

Guard Cole Murray finished with 21 points(career high) and 4 rebounds.

Head Coach Dave Bezold coached his 300th game.
