The real Mark Sanchez has finally appeared in Philadelphia

I’ve never been a huge Mark Sanchez fan, but to be fair it is hard to flourish in New York especially playing for a defensive minded coach and a GM who didn’t surround him with all world talent. In the city that never sleeps, Sanchez seemed to be asleep at the wheel on a weekly basis and never showed much progress from his semi promising rookie season. After being battered, bruised and pretty much put to shame, he was released in the ’14 off season by the Jets. The Jets have since gone on to torture Geno Smith with the same misfortune that they treated Sanchez.

During Sanchez’s five year tenure in New York he was a turnover machine, capped by the infamous butt fumble. His last season in NY he tore his shoulder in the preseason in a game Rex Ryan shouldn’t have put him back in late in the 2nd half and we call agree with that. During the off season, the Philadelphia Eagles showed high interest in the mishandled once highly touted QB. With him pairing with Chip Kelly there was hope that the QB whisperer could resurrect his career.

Sanchez had a great preseason, leaving everybody in awe, even having some folks say give him the job over Nick Foles. I know Eagles fans have a love/hate relationship with Foles, but you rather have him in the game over Sanchez. Then, Week 9 happened Foles cracked his collarbone and here comes Sanchez to field snaps under center. Sanchez won in mop up duty and in his first start, but last Sunday against the Packers the Sanchez we know and love made an appearance. For how great he played on Monday Night two weeks ago, hitting open receivers taking care of the ball and looking in total command, he looked just the opposite Sunday. On Monday night Sanchez went for 332 yards, 2 touchdowns and zero turnovers, yes, zero. On Sunday afternoon Sanchez went for 346 yards, 2 touchdowns and 4 turnovers (2 interceptions/2 fumbles) 2 with were returned for touchdowns.

Coach Kelly’s offense will help Sanchez, but sometimes a product is too damaged to repair and that may be the case for Sanchez. For the Eagles fans, I know you may not love Foles, but we know this salvaged vehicle that is Sanchez is an old beater car you drive when you don’t want to put wear and tear on your prized possession.

It seems the Real Sanchez has made his return!
Note: This was written before the Titans game, but Sanchez also committed multiple turnovers even though the Eagles won.
