When Gerald McCoy got paid we had a barometer for the new Suh deal

Sometimes as they say the writing is on the wall. During the season the Tampa Bay Buccaneers extended DT Gerald McCoy for seven years up to $98 million with $51.5 million guaranteed. McCoy was the same guy that was drafted a pick behind Suh, for both players to be top defensive tackles seems pretty cool.

After the McCoy ink dried on the contact everyone and their momma knew Suh was going to get more. Ray Charles could see Suh was the most dominate defensive tackle in the land (RIP Ray Charles). So when the Lions didn’t franchise tag Suh they knew they couldn’t afford to pay him over $100 million for how every many years.

I’m pretty sure Suh and his agent emailed and faxed McCoy’s contract to every team that is interested and said if you can’t top this don’t waste your time or breathe trying to sign my client. That’s where the Miami Dolphins stepped in and brought a Brink’s truck for the best DT in the game. The numbers are believed to be six years $114 million with $60 guaranteed. Yes, $60 million man Suh is set that’s quarterback type money and I ain’t mad at him for getting that money because one down season and you will get feed to the rats in the NFL.

The Dolphins have been known to open up the check book to free agents within the last few years, go research Mike Wallace and Dannell Ellerbe. So, now Ndamukong Suh will be taking his talents to South Beach and collecting a massive check. If Suh is cool with McCoy he should call him and tell him thanks for setting the bar for his current contract
