March Madness Memories: Featuring Former OSU Buckeye Evan Ravenel

Evan Ravenel, Ohio State Basketball (2011-2013)

Current Status: Professional basketball player Overseas

RH: What was your fondest March Madness memory?

ER: Making it to the final four had to be mine. Seeing all the other teams, the best four teams in the tournament make it that far and everything else that came with it was my fondest memory.

RH: Out of all the tournament games you played, what NCAA Tournament game or games stands out the most?

ER: My last game against Wichita state. I felt like of all the games we could’ve lost that wasn’t the one that should’ve stopped us.

RH: Can you describe the atmosphere during the Final Four in New Orleans?

ER: It was unreal people everywhere. The feeling of being embraced, everyone people traveled from across the world to come to New Orleans to watch us play basketball it doesn’t get much better than that.

RH: How did it feel to represent The Ohio State University during tournament time knowing that the whole world was watching?

ER: It felt great, not much compared to being a buckeye and to be able to represent us at the highest level of basketball was an honor.

RH: Other than obvious notion with it being a one-loss and your out tournament, but what separates tournament time from for the rest of the season?

ER: The fact that you’re playing against a different style each and every night so it really shows which teams can handle anything thrown at them!

RH: Are their any funny stories you can you remember that happened either in practice or off the court during tournament time?

ER: Nothing too funny honestly, we kept it pretty professional during the tournament we all wanted to win so bad. So we stayed focused!

RH: During your senior year in 2013, how did it feel to shoulder leadership responsibilities being the lone senior on the team?

ER: I felt that not only had to lead by example but speak up when needed! Mostly by going hard every chance I got.

RH: Lastly, How do you think the Buckeyes will fare in this year’s NCAA Tournament?

ER: I think they will do extremely well! Go Bucks!
