What Happened to the 2006 NFL Draft Class?

With the 2015 NFL draft just around the corner (Thursday, April 30th) I started to think about some of the past drafts and one that really stood out to me was the draft class of 2006. Pre draft everybody on the planet felt this could potentially be one of the better drafts of all time. From top to bottom there were so many great college players entering the draft that entire franchises were banking on changing their destinies with a few picks. This was supposed to be more than just potential, but rather a group guaranteed to make the hall of fame. That is why I feel the draft class of 2006 is the biggest bust of all time.
The college football season had just been capped with possibly the greatest National championship game of all time. The show was stolen by Texas quarterback Vince Young who cemented his value on the largest stage. In the game he beat one of the most dominant programs in recent history USC featuring Heisman trophy winners Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush and co-star LenDale White all whom would be drafted a few months later. The draft featured so many promising young stars like Jay Cutler, Bobby Carpenter, Deangelo Williams and Nick Mangold.

There were bright spots in the draft and people who have made solid careers such as Greg Jennings, A.J. Hawk, Santonio Holmes, Mario Williams and Vernon Davis but this class was supposed to change the league. Instead many of these people never lived up to anywhere close to the hype and had fans scratching their heads making people think what happened to the 2006 draft class?
