Baldwin named Director of Development for Norse Athletics

Northern Kentucky University Director of Athletics Ken Bothof announced the hiring of Jeff Baldwin as the department’s Director of Development where he will work to increase funding support for athletic programs at NKU.

“I’d like to welcome Jeff to Norse Nation,” said Bothof. “Jeff’s background in higher education development, including experience in the Division I landscape, will bolster our development efforts and allow us to improve experiences for both our student-athletes and fans. ”“I would like to thank Ken and the entire Norse Nation for the opportunity to serve in this pivotal role for Northern Kentucky,” stated Baldwin. “NKU is in a great position and a program on the rise with great leadership, an enthusiastic fan base, strong competition and passionate athletes.”

Most recently, Baldwin served as Major Gifts Officer at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, where he was responsible for building and managing a portfolio of alumni, friends and organizations capable of providing gifts for capital campaign projects, endowment relief, planned giving and scholarships. His duties also included assisting Berea’s athletics department with its transition from NAIA to NCAA Division III.

Baldwin joined Berea College following a stint at the American Heart Association as Director of Development.

Prior to his time at the American Heart Association, Baldwin was the Director of Development for the University of Memphis athletics department. He directed all aspects of the Tigers’ annual fundraising campaign. During his tenure at Memphis, the fundraising efforts for the athletic department grew nearly 60 percent.

Baldwin’s NCAA Division I experience started at Bradley University. As the athletics department’s Director of Fundraising, Baldwin had oversight of the fundraising budget, created annual fundraising goals, organized special fundraising events and spending budgets for the Braves’ sports teams. He was a member of the athletics department senior staff, assisted in the administration of the baseball program and served as an advisor for the Student Athletic Council.

After completing his undergraduate studies and earning dual degrees in secondary education and history at the University of Alabama, Baldwin earned a Masters in Sport Administration from The University of Louisville. He then worked at the Kentucky Sports Authority as the Marketing, Partnerships and Development Director before transitioning to Bradley.
