The return of Eric Berry is bigger than football

Late November Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry felt discomfort in his chest which was later diagnosed as lymphoma. The non football injury landed the star on the shelf for the rest of the season, with playing football as an afterthought. Cancer can bring anybody back to reality, even if it doesn’t affect you directly.

At the end of November if you would’ve told the general public that Berry would be ready for the first preseason game you might’ve been greeted with a you are over ambitious response. That response would’ve been respected because everybody would just want him to live a normal life after having this form of cancer. So, for him to be able to play in the Chiefs first preseason game is super dope to me. It’s cool that cancer wasn’t able to defeat Berry and it shows what type of a fighter the perennial pro bowler is.

I’m rooting for Berry even more than normal because my father has the same form of cancer which is currently in remission. I normally don’t get personal when it comes to sports, but this situation hit home. So Eric Berry just know no matter successful on the field you are in the 2015 season, you already won off the field. Keep fighting the good fight.
