Houston Cougars Offense Primed for an H-Town Takeover

During some American Athletic Conference research in preparation for the 2015 season, I had a chance to watch a recent interview featuring Houston’s new head football coach Tom Herman, QB Greg Ward, Jr. and RB Kenneth Farrow.

All three members of the Cougars program seemed to show visual excitement that they have the opportunity to work with each other. This is huge for the Cougars coming off an 8-5 (5-3 AAC) campaign, Coach Herman didn’t get a bare cupboard that’s for sure.

Herman said, “Ward was a better thrower than expected.” This is good for the Coach who helped guide the Buckeyes to a National Championship with its third string QB. Ward started the season at receiver before finishing it up at quarterback so this is his first offseason to continually work on his craft under center or shotgun.

Herman also glowed when talking about thousand yard rusher Kenneth Farrow saying he had him watch video of Carlos Hyde and Ezekiel Elliott because of the similarities and size. The insertion on a more physical offense will bode well for Farrow, but maybe not the defenses in the AAC.

Check the video out to see the live interviews.

Houston is a serious threat in the AAC, so don’t be surprised if they are making noise during conference play.
