Hawks’ Thabo Sefolosha acquitted on all counts in NYC case

If you don’t remember last season right before the NBA Playoffs started Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland got stabbed outside a NYC nightclub. Copeland has since healed, but during the situation Atlanta Hawks swingman Thabo Sefolosha was injured at the hand of the NYPD. The injury was significant enough where Sefolosha had to have surgery on his lower leg and he missed the entire playoffs.

Sefolosha was charged with three misdemeanors: obstructing government administration, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Now that Sefolosha was proven not guilty he still has the wounds for the incident. His leg is still healing and he might not be ready once the season starts in late October and he can thank the NYPD for that. I know the news only wants to cover the bad stuff the players do like drink and drive, domestic violence, drugs and exc., but this situation is bigger than just views it proves no matter how much money you have the police can pretty much do what they want. Think about it if Sefolosha wouldn’t just took the plea deal, everything would’ve went away, but his leg would still be broken and maybe he wouldn’t shed as much light on the uptick of police brutality.

Hopefully Sefolosha will be able to play at a high level this season, but the big question now is will Sefolosha sue the police department for the damages they caused him?
