The Sound Mind Sound Body Football Academy has become one of the premiere outlets in the country for those who have dreams of playing college football. The Detroit based program has grown into a national staple. High-profile college coaches across the country have made appearances at the camps. As you might expect, some of the top high school talent in recent memory have attended camps or seminars as well.
Notable names such Marshon Lattimore(NFL) Devin Funchess (NFL), Desmond King (NFL), Jourdan Lewis (NFL), Mike Weber Jr.,(Ohio State) Damon Webb (Ohio State), John Kelly (Tennesee), Shane Morris (Michigan/Central Michigan), and helped set the table for what SMSB is today.
Over the holiday break, SMSB exhibited why they are revered as one of the better programs in the country. On December 26, over 250 student-athletes from the Detroit Metropolitan Area and surrounding areas attended the “A Day of Inspiration” held at Detriot Music Hall which was the first day of a two-day series presented by SMSB.
The student-athletes got an up-close look at Dr. Eric Thomas, T.J. Tyus, Dr. Raphael B. Johnson and a host of others. In that session, the student-athletes received motivational messages about how to succeed on and off the field.
After that, the young men were able to watch the Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field where the Duke Blue Devils defeated Northern Illinois Huskies 36-14.
