I was browsing the world wide web and saw that Edgerrin James will be inducted into the Indianapolis Colts Ring of Honor.
Though I’ve been a lifelong 49er fan Edgerrin James was always my favorite player during his playing days. James left the Colts in 2006 via free agency and bolted to the desert to play for the Arizona Cardinals.
During James’s days in Indy he became their all-time rusher with 9,226 yards to go along with 75 total touchdowns, 4 pro bowl trips, rookie of the year, NFL All-Pro team (2x), and All Decade Team (2000-2010). In the 2001 James tore his ACL which resulting him to change his game to a more of a bruising back. Despite the injury and change of style he still posted 5 1,000 yard seasons after the grueling injury. The Edge retired as a top ten rusher( now 11th) with 12,246 rushing yards and has a host of other accolades.
James was a member of a trio that included Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison. The three never won a Super Bowl together as a unit, but they had a lot of memorable moments on the field. Despite finishing his career elsewhere James has always been celebrated by the Colts organization.
James will join, Marvin Harrison, Tony Dungy, and a host of other Colts greats that will be inducted into the ring of honor. In my opinion James has hall of fame numbers, but with voting being so skittish he may not get into the hall of fame for quite some time.
Being inducted into the Ring of Honor is not the same as being inducted into the Hall of Fame, but it is a great achievement that cannot be taken away.
