What about me? To quote Remy from Higher Learning. That’s how the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets feel after the new Orlando Magic GM Rob Hennigan made a 4 team trade that didn’t involve either team.
Orlando traded Dwight Howard, Chris Duhon, Earl Clark to the Lakers, they received Aaron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Josh McRoberts, Christian Eyenga, Moe Harkless, Nikola Vucevic, 3 1st rd picks, 2 2nd rd picks and 17.8 million dollar trade exception, the Nuggets received Andre Iguodala and the 76ers welcome Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson.
Honestly with a gun to ya face in this all you can come up with?
The Nets had Brook Lopez, MarShon Brooks, Kris Humphries and multiple on the table for Howard. You know the Nets would have taken Hedon’t I’m mean Hedo off of their hands. Why wouldn’t Hennigan take that deal? Plum dumb? Lopez is not a superstar but you can build a respectable team around him, Brooks has a high upside and Kris K is a solid player like him or not. So why not take this deal? Is he on them bath salt’s? I guess he thinks building a team around Jameer Nelson and Aaron Afflalo makes more sense?
Why not trade with the Rockets who were willing to trade anybody on their team for Howard and take any contract that the Magic wanted to send back just to get D12 in H-Town? They could have gotten their choice from Jeremy Lamb, Royce White, Terrence Jones, Kevin Martin, Kyle Lowry, Chandler Parsons, draft picks and whoever else they wanted. At worse they could have gotten a lot of young talent who maybe able to carry the franchise into the future. I guess he just wanted Al Harrington to be the vocal point?
Both teams had better packages available than the one they accepted.
How do you trade Howard in not get Bynum or Gasol back in return? Just say no to bath salts people, just say no.
How do you trade Howard without baiting a team to take on that bad Hedo contract? You had the ace and played it like a jack.
The Nets and Rockets got left at the altar and the Magic will get close to Bobcat bad if they don’t watch it. The Nets and Rockets will be screaming what about me for a long time, so if you hear a random fan quote that statement, let me just say I told you so.
