Showing love to Drew Brees consecutive TD record

Last week a 52 year old record was broken by Drew Brees. Brees has thrown a touchdown in 48 consecutive games (and counting). The record was formerly held by the great Johnny Unitas. Unitas achieved this record from 1956-60, while Quarterbacking the Baltimore Colts (It’s not a typo folks). Brees started his journey for the record in the 2009 season reaching ultimate pay dirt on October 7th.

As sports fans we know the way football is played nowadays has changed immensely since the 50’s but to say so myself this is a hell of a record that has been broken. Yes, we can say well he throws 40 plus times a game he’s suppose to at least have one td a game but what about the other gunslingers who didn’t reach this goal? Why diminish his accomplishment? Favre, Marino, Elway, Young, Montana, Manning, Brady and whoever else we can think of didn’t reach this goal so we know it’s not an easy task. Scoring points isn’t always an easy task the defense gets paid to keep you off the scoreboard as much as possible. There are QB’s who have played a whole season in didn’t even have 16 TD’s let alone have 16 in consecutive games.

To put it perspective Brees has thrown at least one TD in 3 seasons straight worth of football. While others are not showing Brees love because of the bounty gate situation or because they currently have a losing record, we here at The Front Office just wants congratulate Brees for breaking an amazing record. With all the clouds of smoke surrounding the Saints it’s cool to see them get a day of fresh air.
