Now that a few days have passed I have finally come to grips of the situation to be able to write this post. Clap for me y’all.
The San Francisco Giants came to Cincinnati down 2-0 with not much hope in sight it seemed after being dominated at home. A betting man would say the Reds would win 1 of 3 at home just using the law of averages. MVP candidate Buster Posey had other ideals when he arrived to Great American Ball Park.
What we have learned in this series is you can’t play for tomorrow because who knows what hand you will be dealt the next day, play the cards in your current hand for the dub.
Game 3 the Reds had a chance to open up the Giants in the 1st inning when BP made a big base running error , trying to go from 1st to 3rd on a passed ball, Posey kindly gunned him out at 3rd base, staking calm to all that MVP talk. The Reds went on to score one run that inning but it could’ve been more and that one run was the last run they scored that game. An error by Rolen in the 10th shut the door on a masterful game by Homer Bailey as the Giants took game 3.
We won’t talk about game 4 but Game 5 might as well been a Buster Posey parade in downtown Cincy. Sad but true, the kid showed up and showed out. Posey crushed a grand slam and stopped a Reds rally with a strike em out throw em out play. All in the same game. With those two plays Posey painted the town Orange and it wasn’t the orange signaling the Bengals.
I didn’t check Posey’s series stats but those three plays changed the final script. The Giants are the first team to ever when a 5 game series after being down 0-2. Congrats to the Giants, Reds fans will remember this series for a long time thanks Mr. Posey for deflating the blimp that was traveling around Cincy.
