Careers end in every sport but for an NBA player going overseas could mean your career in the NBA has come to an end. If you are a younger player you can always work on your game in try to claw your way back but for players longer in the tooth it could your last time on the big stage.
Seems like yesterday Tracy “T-Mac” McGrady bursted onto the scene with the Toronto Raptors. We soon learned he was Vince Carter’s cousin, which at a younger age was a cool fun fact. T-Mac was a very dynamic player, who could create for others, finish at the basket with the best of them, rebound, block shots and hit the outside shot.
Before injuries halted the superstars career McGrady was easily a top 5 player, even got into a few heated discussions that he was better than Kobe, I didn’t go that far but the convos were had. He was a multi time all-star, led the league in scoring (twice) and posterized many of players but shoulder surgery and the infamous microfacture knee surgery shot the star out of the sky like a cannon. Besides injuries he had the monkey on his back that he never advanced out of the 1st round of the playoffs, which was a very hot topic while he played for the Rockets and Co-Starred with Yao Ming.
T-Mac only averaged 5.3 ppg with the Hawks last year as a key reserve off of the bench. The 5.3 ppg was a career low McGrady.
During the last 4 years he has been just a shell of his former self, so for the young bucks who didn’t get to see him during his glory years check out some youtube videos so you can have a greater appreciation for T-Mac. T-Mac has signed a one year deal to play ball in China who knows how long he will lace them up overseas but it seems Mr. McGrady’s days are done in the NBA.
