There are many players that are on the cusp of being a NBA All-Star. Some players are cursed by being on bad teams and there are some that have bad luck of playing at a position where there are several superstars. This NBA season will be very exciting, and there will be some new faces as well as some old faces looking forward to be in the NBA spotlight this season.
Jeff Green SF/PF, Boston Celtics- Green is a combo forward who is back from having heart surgery which caused him to miss the entire 2011-2012 season. Green is a smooth operator, and has been looking rejuvenated as a player during the pre-season. Green will provide a much-needed injection of youth and athleticism for the Celtics this season. Keep an eye on Green this season with the C’s he may not be an All-Star, but he will be a viable candidate for the sixth man of the year award.
Evan Turner SF/SG/PG, Philadelphia 76ers- Turner came on strong at the end of last season, and played fairly well during the 2012 NBA Playoffs. Now that Andre Iguodala is in Denver Turner will be looked to vill his void. Teaming with Andrew Bynum and Jrue Holiday will help make things a smooth transition for Turner. The 76ers will need Turner’s all-around play to be on full course this season. It’s not far-fetched that Turner can average 15ppg, 7rebs, and 7 asst if he puts his mind to it. At times Doug Collins can be hard on Turner, because he has not lived to the lofty expectations being drafted No.2 in the 2010 NBA Draft. This is a make or break year for Turner we shall see how things will end up in the city of Brotherly Love.
Paul George SG/SF, Indiana Pacers- Paul George had a solid second year, but went to Bolivia when the playoffs began. George is an athletic swing man who can play at both ends. With Danny Granger, David West, and Roy Hibbert as the core of the team the Pacers can become even more dangerous if Paul George expands his play.
Brandon Jennings/Monta Ellis, PG/SG, Milwaukee Bucks- Both Jennings and Ellis are exciting players, but the exciting play of both of them never really generated to any wins. Ellis and Jennings are two of the best players in the NBA that have yet to make an All-Star team. This season I look for one of them to take their game to the next level to propel the Bucks to a playoff berth under tough-minded coach Scott Skiles.
Javale McGee, Center, Denver Nuggets- Javale McGee played great during last season’s playoffs showing us what he was capable of on the hardwood. This summer McGee went under the tutelage of Hakeem Olajuwon and worked on the fundamentals of being a big man on both ends. McGee’s athleticism is off the charts for 7 footer, but what hinder’s McGee is his basketball IQ, and focus on the court. It will be interesting to see if George Karl will continue to bring the best out of McGee.
Tyreke Evans, SF/SG, Sacramento Kings,- Evans has loads of potential, but has regressed during his last few seasons. Evans is fighting for a contract extension, and if he continues to regress it is likely that he will not be in a Kings uniform next year(which is not a bad thing). Evans can get back to his rookie season form, but it will take for him to regain his hunger and focus that he had when he entered the NBA.
