Be careful what you ask for as a sports fan because sometimes you receive it. In Philly people have been saying the Eagles should play rookie QB Nick Foles for the last few weeks. Because of Vick’s erratic play people think they should let Foles have the keys. Do you think Andy Reid whose job is on the line wants to trust the rookie to save him?
Ready or not Eagles fans got their wish when Vick was knocked out the game with concussion like symptoms. With this latest injury for Vick this may be the beginning of the end of his time in Philly.
The Eagles are 3-6 right now with 7 games left in their season. They are not mathematically out of the playoffs and playing in the up and down NFC East they still have a small shot but if you have seen them play you know it’s not totally the QB’s fault. This team once had high expectations is now just a media battering ram.
Foles played a decent game albeit he got thrown to the wolves of an important game in the 1st half. One thing I saw that no matter who is behind center no one can hold up with this anemic offensive line. This line was never a 95 Dallas type but they have 4 of 5 starters out, the main one being tackle Jason Peters. To say it nicely playing behind this line is an early death sentence ask Mike Vick.
The defense is terrible, all coaches and most players may have their checks in the mail. I don’t know if the front office has really done that but a lot people should get the Juan Castillo treatment.
I’m a Vick supporter but with the team in the position they are in Foles will get the keys for the rest of the season. Eagles fans will watching closely because they want to know if Foles will be the future of the franchise. If he does good Vick may be playing somewhere else in 2013 one thing is for certain is Andy Reid won’t be coaching the Eagles next year.
