Week in and week out there are great games to go along with some amazing story lines. Week 17 continued a great trend of great moments during the football week. Feel free to chime in and comment on our selections if you like. Enjoy!
Adrian Peterson for MVP– I know Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers have played out of their minds this season, but it is time to give the MVP award to a running back. Peterson was only 9 yards away from the All-Time record held by Eric Dickerson. It is still amazing to see how Peterson played this season after tearing his ACL and MCL on December 24, 2011. This is just a testament of how much work Peterson puts in as a player.
The Philadelphia Eagles Quit on Andy Reid This Season– You would think after Reid faced tragedy during the off-season it would make perfect sense to play harder for him. In this case it was the total opposite. It was embarrassing to see the Eagles play against the Giants as Eli & Co. went up and down the field as if they were doing 7 on7 drills. Reid may have been fired, but the problems will only continue to mount up in the city of Brotherly Love.
The Year of the Rookie Quarterback– In week 17 RGIII, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson led their teams to victory that sealed the deal for their playoff bids. It is a great feat to see such young players play at such a high level.
The New York Jets did Tebow wrong– I am not a Tebow supporter by any means, but with Mark Sanchez playing like Bubby Brister it was shocking to see him play while Tebow rotted on the bench. Tebow cannot throw the ball, but he does make plays. I don’t want to sound like Skip Bayless, but it was a disservice how Tebow was treated by Rex Ryan and the Jets.
Tony Romo…….- I really don’t know what to say about Tony Romo. I will just be praying for all of Cowboys Nation if Romo is at the helm.
Terrelle Pryor Showed Promise– I am a homer when it comes to Buckeyes, but when someone sucks from Ohio State (Kurt Coleman) I don’t bite my tongue either. Pryor had a shaky start but ended the game with three total touchdowns. He almost came close by winning the game with a 4th quarter comeback falling short 24-21. In a game where the field and weather was a disaster Pryor only had one turnover. I don’t know if Pryor did enough to win over Head Coach Dennis Allen, but with some work in the off-season Pryor could be starting for the Raiders in the upcoming season.
Black Monday Was Mad Real- Ken Whisenhunt, Lovie Smith, Romeo Crennel, Chan Gailey, Norv Turner, Andy Reid, and Pat Shurmur were all fired on Monday. Some firings were expected, but I think Lovie Smith being axed was a surprised. There will be better days for these group of coaches. Well guys feel free to upload those resume’s on careerbuilder.com.
