Michael Beasley is having his worst season as a pro this year with the Phoenix Suns. Beasley who was signed to be a go-to scorer is averaging less than 10.00ppg, and has been glued to the bench as of late. When Beasley signed with the Suns I thought he would have rejuvenated his career similar to what O.J. Mayo is doing in Dallas, but he is doing the total opposite. Beas who was selected by the Miami Heat 2nd overall in 2008, has failed to reach the lofty expectations that were placed on him coming out of Kansas State. It is frustrating to see someone with the talent that Beasley has fail to put it all together.
I don’t see Beasley lasting in Phoenix for a long period of time. A change of scenery is always good, but how many changes does he need for it to click? It is hard to give up on a talented player such as Beasley. Guys such as Chauncey Billups, Steve Nash, and Jermaine O’Neal were late bloomers that turned out to be NBA All-Stars. I wish an older player or retired player would take Beasley under their wing to get all of the “can’t get right” out of his system.
At the end of the day, Beasley has to want it for himself. So far I don’t see that he wants much out of his career. It will be interesting to see how things shake up for B-Easy. For the sake of basketball fans it would be good to see him reach some of his potential before he is exiled out of the NBA.
