Brandon Jennings is having a great season this year averaging 18.5 ppg and dishing out 6.0 apg . With the way Jennings is playing this season he will be a dark horse to become an All-Star candidate. Jennings was recently named Eastern Conference Player of the Week after former head coach Scott Skiles was sent to the unemployed line. We all know that Jennings can be erratic at times, but he is baller by all means. It was a surprise to see the Bucks not offer Jennings a contract this off-season, and it may come back to haunt them in the future. With Jennings and Monta Ellis running the show in Milwaukee the Bucks are in position to make the playoffs.
If the Bucks make it to the postseason it will have a lot to do with Jennings. At times general managers can become remedial when building or restructuring their teams. With Jennings and Ellis being potential free agents in the off-season they are in position to lose both players. That means that the Bucks will be closer to the NBA Lottery rather than the NBA Playoffs without either players.
If Jennings continues his stellar play it will only drive up his contract price. Since Jennings is only 23 years of age he will have a lot of leverage when it comes to contract negotiations. The NBA is a perimeter driven league where point guards are salivated over, and it will make it a lot easier of Jennings to leave Milwaukee. The Bucks need to smarten up before it is too late.
