The NBA All-Star reserves were released Thursday Night, and there was a name left off of the roster that has been left of All-Star rosters before. Monta Ellis failed to make the All-Star game this season. This is a trend that seems to be haunting Ellis no matter what the circumstances are.
While with the Golden State Warriors Ellis was a big-time scorer, but never reached the All-Star Game. At that time it was hard to be named to the Western Conference All-Star game due to the log jam at the guard position.
With Ellis being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks I thought he could have a legit shot of making the All-Star team in the Eastern Conference. Ellis and the Bucks are 7th in the Eastern Conference, and Ellis is leading the Bucks in scoring averaging close to 19.0 ppg.
Ellis is still a high volume shooter, but this is one of few times where Ellis is playing on a team that is in playoff contention. The emergence of Kyrie Irving and Jrue Holiday eliminated Ellis from being a reserve on the All-Star.
I knew it was a slim chance that Ellis would make it, but it never hurts to be optimistic. Sorry Ellis there is always next year.
No love for Monta man, last year he should’ve made it hands down .
