The Miami Heat took a loss in the hands of the Chicago Bulls. The Heat were six games away from tying the winning streak record held by the 1971-1972 Los Angeles Lakers. The Heat lost their first game since February 1st which is an even more amazing feat when looking that we are a few days from being in April. A lot of people will troll the Heat about their loss, but in reality it will be hard to beat this team in a seven game playoff series. With Bosh, Wade, and James being able to rest during the next few weeks of the season will be crucial to their playoff success.
The Miami Heat had a great run and will look forward to resting their players since they are 11.5 games ahead of the second seed in the East. Even though the Heat won 27 games in a row, many feel that they can play at an even higher level. The Heat is known for having a lackadaisical approach at times, and this streak showed that they had the mental toughness and focus that many questioned them about.
I personally wanted to see the Heat break the record so that I could say I was present when the Heat dethroned the record. Basketball fans, analysts, and even the players were caught up in the hype of the streak. Now that the Heat has finally taken a loss people can relax now.
The Miami Heat can breathe a sigh of relief and prepare for their title defense. No matter if you are a Heat fan or hater it was a great moment in basketball history to witness one of the best winning streaks in NBA history. To the Lakers players that were on the 1971-1972 team, you can pop the bottle of champagne, because I think this record will be around for a very long time.
