In the final game of the Lakers season, Dwight Howard bailed out on his team. I am not a Laker fan, but I am a realist. Howard was ejected after crying to the refs about fouls. Howard could have kept his composure knowing that the Lakers did not have a legitimate chance of beating the Spurs without him. I think it was a selfish move and a cop out for Howard to exit the game in that fashion.
Playing in Los Angeles is no easy feat. In a city where it is “Championship or Bust” adds a lot of pressure that many are not use to. While Howard was in Orlando the pressure and expectations were not as high. Seeing that Howard is weak mentally it is hard to see him coming back to the “Lake Show”. The pressure will only continue to mount and the lights will be shine brighter on him since Kobe is out due to injury. Some athletes thrive when it comes to pressure. Howard’s antics against the Spurs shows that he has yet to mature on and off the court even after being in the NBA nine seasons.
The Lakers are in a tough position, because Howard is a free-agent. If Howard leaves the Lakers get nothing in return. It looks like we have to go through another summer soap opera of Dwight Howard episode of As the World Turns. Whether Howard returns or he leaves I will like to offer my condolences to Laker Nation. You deserve better!
