Since entering the NBA Nate Robinson has been a wildcard. Robinson who is a journeyman in the NBA has always shown the ability to play basketball no matter what jersey he is wearing at the time. Robinson is more popular for his dunks and kicks on the court more than anything. Nate Robinson the basketball player has often been perceived as an enigma, selfish, and immature rather than being a solid ball player.
Standing at 5’9 being one of the shortest players in the NBA Robinson has always played with a chip on his shoulder. At times having that chip on his shoulder left him glued to the bench of many teams he had suited up for. While with the New York Knicks Robinson clashed with then head coach Mike D’Antoni and had issues with Scott Brooks in Oklahoma City Thunder. To no surprise Robinson has played well under player coaches such as Doc Rivers (Celtics), Mark Jackson (Warriors), and Tom Thibodeau(Bulls).
Robinson who is now playing with his fifth team is finally being embraced as a solid basketball player. We all know that Robinson can go into “yolo” mode at times , but overall he is playing great basketball for the Chicago Bulls. It may sound crazy, but Nate Robinson outplayed Deron Williams in the crucial moments in the opening playoff round against the Brooklyn Nets. Robinson continued his streak of hot play and put up 27 points and 8 assists against the Miami Heat in game 1.
It is likely that the Bulls will be eliminated by the Miami Heat, but it is great to see Nate Robinson finally get his due. I doubt that the Bulls will keep Robinson next season because of the return of Derrick Rose (depending on God’s decision), Kirk Hinrich, and Marquis Teague.
It is a numbers game, and it will likely leave Nate Robinson as the odd man out. We don’t’ know where Nate will be next season, but we know where he is right now, and that is balling for the Chicago Bulls in the postseason. #Holdat #StateofNate
