Ronde Barber announced his retirement this week from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Barber who will more than likely be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame once he is eligible. I don’t know if Ronde will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but he will get into Canton without a doubt.
Barber had an illustrious career with winning a Super Bowl as well as being nominated to the Pro Bowl and NFL All-Pro teams a total of ten times over a sixteen year career. Barber is also a member of the 40/20 and 20/20 club that includes the total of interceptions and sacks over a career.
Seeing a cornerback in the that company is an amazing feat. Despite Barber having a laundry list of accolades he was often overlooked due to him playing in a zone scheme. I don’t care what system Barber played the numbers speak for themselves. Barber may not have been Rod Woodson, Aneas Williams, or Deion Sanders, but Ronde Barber was a one of a kind player. The NFL and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will miss a class act as a person and a player.
Congratulations to Ronde Barber on a great NFL career we will look forward to seeing you in Canton soon!
