When you look at mock drafts all over the board nobody knows what may happen with all 60 picks. This draft has a lot of good players but nobody that the masses want pin the title of next star or superstar.
Only thing for certain right now is that the Cavs still have the 1st pick of this years draft but like we all know they have been in mist of talks trying to wheel and deal this pick faster than we can say the phrase, “No not today”, I don’t know why I picked that phrase but back to the topic at hand nobody has bitten on the offers the Cavs have been casting out.
Nerlens Noel coming into his Freshman year at Kentucky was the consensus #1 pick without playing a game in college but an ACL tear has made that picture a little cloudy. Noel followed behind last years 1st pick Anthony Davis at Kentucky so do didn’t help the immense pressure of being the number 1 recruit in college. He is a player that will be drafted on upside, he’s good on defense but his offense is comparable to an empty chalk board. That being said Nerlens will be a top 5 pick barring any alarming last minute situations popping up.
Noel is the player with the most hype but players like Trey Burke, Otto Porter, Alex Len, Anthony Bennett, Ben McLemore and Victor Oladipo all have uncertainty where they will fall June 27th. Some teams may draft for needs, some may take the best player available, others may not have a rhyme or reason how they make this selection, points to the Cavs cough cough but nonetheless the 2013 draft should be at least interesting.
A lot of teams will use this years draft to trade down or dump salary on desperate teams so they can make a play for a few of the free agents who will officially be able to make moves on July 1st.
With all of the uncertainty it seems like a lot of teams wish they could fast forward to the 2014 draft. A lot of scouts are higher on that crop of freshmen heading to college. It may not be the best feeling for this years crop of draftees but they will have a shot to prove their worth and sometimes that’s all you need.
