Houston we have a problem. Does Dwight Howard have more pressure on him as a Rocket than he did as a Laker? It seems impossible given the history and the well known market the Lakers reside in, but strictly from a basketball standpoint few would argue that Houston had the better team and immediate foreseeable future.

Some would argue with the way Kobe Bryant’s season ended last year and father time continuing to add wear and tear on a soon to be 35 year old Bryant that Howard will now be joining a better player at this point. No one saw James Harden becoming the player he became last season seemingly leaping Dwayne Wade for the second best two guard in the league spot.

With an interesting supporting cast and possibly a younger better player than him on his roster which has never happened before it seems that Howard has more pressure than ever to get it done. Adding to that list he now must play in the shadow of hall of famer Hakeem Olajuwon. Howard along with a list of other current nba star players have been spending summers learning offensive moves and footwork from Olajuwon. He also has one of the best big men of all time as a head coach in Kevin McHale leading him this year.

To recap Howard has the key to the city, A coach who played down low and is invested in his style, a superstar co-star, and the most talented big man of all time regarding footwork (one of Howard’s major flaws) to study from. No more Free agency talk and no more excuses can superman save the day?
