With all the other positions knocked out we are to the main position in the NBA, maybe not the main position but the position with the most star power at this current time in the NBA.
We had a few good PG’s not make the list, I can think of 3 or 4 players who have a legitimate argument but this was the toughest to vote on. Check the list out.
Our contributors again are (Me, Ron, Martel, Nate, Tyler and Rohit). Tyler is a contributor over at FWO365 and Rohit is the EIC over at MettaChronicals. Check out their sites and show them some love we appreciate them helping us rank the players this year.
Note: We are putting the player name, team, points and what their rank was last year. (Maximum about of points that can be earned is 60)
10, Jrue Holiday, New Orleans Pelicans, 10 pts (NR)- Jrue Holiday’s new change of scenery will help him and the Pelicans. Holiday will give them quality point guard play for the next decade. The NBA All-Star took his game to a new level in Philly, but now that he has even more weapons to toy with he will only improve. Ron
9. Mike Conley, Memphis Grizzlies, 17 pts, (NR)– Conley just might be the most underrated player at his position. In the past few seasons the Grizzlies have proved to be one of the top teams in the west and one of the constant has been Conley. They have had good runs with Randolph and without Randolph. They have had good runs with Gay and without Gay. It seems that no matter who is on the court for the Grizz as long as they have Conley they have a shot. Conley is a player that is just good at everything. He ain’t the best shooter, passer, finisher, or defender but he’s on the list of em all. Martel
8. Deron Williams, Brooklyn Nets, 25 pts (2nd)- D Will was arguably the best point guard in the game the last few years but this year because of injury he fell wayyy down the list. Losing to the Rose-less Bulls in the first round didn’t help but with a strong year D Will could return to the top of the list sooner than later. JT
7. Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls, 29 pts (3rd)- DRose took a lot of heat for not playing last year when he was cleared to play, but I feel he made the best decision. He’ll have a lot to prove this year, not only to the Bulls faithful, but to himself and it seems like he’ll do everything in his power to get back to the MVP level of play and carry the Bulls through the East. Nate
5T. Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics, 31 pts (5th)- Rondo’s an all-star PG, potentially the best in the league when he’s playing to his strengths. With the old guard in Boston finally gone, it’ll be entirely up to Rondo to dictate how the next couple of years go. He has two years left on his contract and will make $12 million in 2013-2014. With how well players are now recovering from ACL injuries, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Rondo had the best season of his career, infuriated with Boston’s notion of ‘rebuilding’. Rohit
5T. Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers, 31 pts (T9th)- If Kyrie can play a whole season man who knows where he will end up on this list. His handle is crazy, he can score from anywhere on the court but he’s liable to get hurt at a drop of a dime. Uncle Drew is a baller G, he gets buckets and the Cavs are a team on the rise being let but this young baller. JT
4. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors, 33 pts (NR)– Steph Curry took off this past season. Curry, who should have been an All-Star this past year made noise in the playoffs proving that he was one of the top point guards in the game. Curry doesn’t have many wholes in his game, but the injuries to his ankles are a concern. Curry is only 25, and is just entering his prime the sky is the limit for him. Ron
3. Russel Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder, 36 pts (4th)– Westbrook is probably the best athlete the point guard position has ever seen. He has improved his outside shot tremendously and he one of the best on ball defenders at the position. He’s decision making has to continue to improve but through the years Westbrook has proven to be a superstar in this league. His importance was felt in last year playoffs when he went down with injury and the once favorable Thunder went out in the 2nd round. Martel
2. Tony Parker, San Antonio Spurs, 47 pts (6th)– Tony Parker is like the Ludacris of the NBA, he doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Parker is fast a Spur, see what I did there? His vastly improved jumper and attacking ways make him a match up problem for everyone. With him at the wheel the Spurs will stay relevant in the West for a few more years. JT
1. Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers, 58 pts (1st)- CP3 is the quintessential point guard in the league today. He defends, drops dimes, and can create for himself. The addition of Doc Rivers should not only help his playmaking abilities but improve the overall play of the supporting cast in Lob City. Nate
