Robert Griffin III Will Be Ready For Week 1

The last time Robert Griffin III dawned a Redskins Jersey he was carted off of the field after tearing his ACL in a playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks. Griffin, who has yet to play in any preseason games announced that he will be ready for week 1.  (Article Seen at, http://espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp13/story/_/id/9608098/robert-griffin-iii-washington-redskins-start-monday-opener-sources-say)

Since Adrian Peterson came back from his ACL tear in less than a year many athletes are trying to go that route. Fifteen years ago an ACL tear meant that your career could possibly over. In this day in age with medical technology, tearing the ACL is not as severe as it once was. Now, don’t get me wrong it is still a dangerous injury, but the rehabilitation process and the knowledge of the injury has helped the healing process a lot.

With Griffin missing the preseason he will have some rust. It will be natural for him to be rusty.  I think that it will not hinder him as much as what people think it will. I don’t want to say that RGIII will have an Adrian Peterson like impact on the field, but I wouldn’t put it past him. I know the timing may be off at the beginning, but I feel that Griffin will be okay. The Redskins rely heavily on the running game with Alfred Morris, and they thrive off of the short to intermediate passing game. Not saying that the Redskins offense is vanilla, but there aren’t many timing routes, and long developing plays that can throw off the timing too bad.

A lot of responsibility also falls on Head Coach Mike Shanahan. Does he unleash RGIII,or does he hold him back in fear of injury? Shanahan is in a tough position knowing what type of player Griffin is when healthy.  Since Griffin is a dual-threat quarterback his legs are as important as his arm.  By him being  able to dominate the game on the ground or through the air makes him a headache for defensive coordinators.

I know for a fact that both Shanahan and Griffin want a healthy version of RGIII on the field during the week 1 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Until week 1 is here all we can do is speculate how Griffin will look.

Last season there was speculation about how would Griffin would debut in his league opener. He passed that test with flying colors by throwing for 320 Yards and 2 touchdowns, while playing the Saints on the road.  This season speculation surfaces again about his health.  if I were a betting man I would say that he would expect Griffin to come out and ball.

  1. Mike S. better not get RGIII killed man, but I think he is going have a good year and then they probably will turn Cousins into the new Matt Flynn lmao
