Press Release via Eva Costa, for those in the Dayton area pass it information along.
DAYTON, OH – Hoop4u Sports Academy will host the first standardized, NBA-type evaluation combine of its kind in the area. The Rising Stars Combine and Shootout will bring together basketball players, grades 6 through 9, to showcase their skills against the area’s best competitors. This co-ed combine takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 7th and 8th at Meadowdale High School, 3873 Whitestone Ct, Dayton, OH 45416. Youngsters will participate in fitness and speed drills, and a 2-game Shootout. The cost of instruction for this two day event is $110.00.
On the First day, physical measurements, timed shuttle run, vertical jump, among other position specific skills will be evaluated. On day two, players will be placed on teams where they will compete against each other. This is also an incredible opportunity for your child to be taught and mentored by superior coaches and players. Dwight “The Blur” Anderson and Marlon “Shack” Shackelford will be the guest coaches. Anderson, former NBA player and University of Kentucky superstar, will be speaking about the path to success and its pitfalls, and helping kids perfect their form. Shackelford, Peace Ambassador and Street Souljah’s architect, speaks to youth on substance abuse, violence prevention, respect, and healthy choices.
The Rising Stars Combine is the brain child of Lorenzo Smith, head coach of the Dayton Airmen AAU program, and founder of Hoop4U Sports Academy. Hoop4u24.com is a basketball information disseminating site that features players, events, sports education, and game scores. The site gives high school players in this area an avenue to get their stats and accomplishments on the radar of scouts and colleges, and middle school players an opportunity to pique the interest of scouts at a young age. A complete combine report will be generated and placed on Hoop4u24.com and sent to the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and a national database that over 300 division I, II, and III colleges and junior colleges have access to.
A combine is not only a measuring stick for scouts and recruiting services, it also gives coaches a chance to mold players into star competitors. The base measurements recorded will allow players and coaches to quantify performance so that coaches can focus on areas that need developing. Performance goals can be set, and improvement can be measured from one year to the next. This is also a chance to play against the best basketball players that the Miami Valley has to offer. Several nationally ranked players will be attending. L’Christian “Blue” Smith, Nick Pluta, Storm Cook, and Floyd Scott are just a few of the area’s best players that will showcase their talents at the Rising Stars Combine.
Registrations are being accepted at hoop4u24.com or by phone at (877) 636-9151. Coaches and sponsors interested in more information can contact Coach Smith at (937)248-1402.
