When the Browns traded their former running back Trent Richardson to the Colts I thought it was a bad move at first. After about a few hours or so I thought that the Browns may have robbed the Colts.
When Trent Richardson was acquired by Indy many thought it would be a second coming of Peyton Manning and Edgerrin James. Richardson, who can’t hold a candle to James is not the type of back James was, and maybe more comparable to Dominic Rhodes these days.
On a serious note, Richardson has not been the back that could propel Indy to Super Bowl status. Now that Reggie Wayne is out for the season, Luck will need more help than ever. In seven games with the Colts, Richardson has ran for 250 yards in seven games. I’m no math major, but that’s just only a shade over 35 ypg. Starting QB Andrew Luck has only 50 yards less than Richardson, and Donald Brown has been more effective.
Moral of the story is that the Browns got over, and Jim Brown may have been right about T-Rich.
There is a lot of football left, and Richardson can change his season around, but being the gambler that I am I wouldn’t bet on it.
I would like to apologize to Andrew Luck on behalf of Jim Irsay… You’ve been bamboozled.
