I have wanted to touch on this subject over the last few years, but something always comes up that draws my attention away from it. I’ve been itching to put my little two cents in for a while and today is the day that I finally get to climb up my soap box to say a few words. When you have your own blog/site you can say what you want, when you want, about who you want. It’s up to the masses to decide if they agree or disagree. Some may think I’m an idiot, some may think I’m a genius and some won’t care, but that’s the beauty of freedom of speech.
I had a little rant, but for those who are Rams fans or watch the Rams with any kind of regularity have you noticed that Sam Bradford really isn’t the answer? I know he’s been hurt since Week 7, but we can’t spare the $50 million dollar man just because he’s hurt.
Bradford was the 1st pick in the 2009 draft he received a 6-year $78 million deal with $50 million in guarantees. For those that don’t know, he is the guy who forced the NFL to start a rookie salary cap. It wasn’t solely on him, but he was the last to reap the benefit.
So on the money side of the things nobody can feel sad for him, but when watching him play you may feel sad for Rams fans in general. When you are the first pick a lot of pressure is placed upon you and you are expected to be the franchise QB for years to come, but with up and down play and an ACL injury hovering over his head his future in St. Louis looks questionable.
2013 he was on pace to have his best year statistically, but sometimes stats lie to us. I watched a couple of Rams games and I saw a lot of missed reads, bad throws and a person who didn’t like pressure. I know nobody likes pressure, but sometimes you have to stand in there like a G and take the hit all while making a good throw.
The Rams will have to make a decision this off season. Will they keep paying Bradford? Or will they cut bait and start anew behind the center? I know nobody cares what I say, but if I’m in the Rams Front Office (No pun intended) I’m starting anew because they have too much talent to keep letting Bradford waste it. I personally think Kellen Clemens has done a better job leading the Rams to win and he’s a known journeyman. Thank about that for a little bit Rams fans.
