History was made by Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson during Super Bowl XLVIII. Russell Wilson is the 2nd black quarterback to win the big game.
Most people probably don’t think it is a big deal, but I’m here to tell you it is. McNabb, McNair and Kaepernick started in the Super Bowl, but came up a little bit short and countless others were back ups in the big game (i.e) Leftwich, Batch and Jackson (sorry if I left anybody out). The black QB is always under fire because 80% of the black QB’s like to scramble and the rule is you can’t win with a scrambler, which Wilson is helping nip the concept in the butt.
Doug Williams led the Washington Redskins to a Super Bowl XXII victory and took home MVP honors. Williams threw for 340 yards and 4 touchdowns to beat the Broncos who were led by John Elway at the time. Even after leading his Redskins to the promise land Williams wasn’t signed the next season.
Wilson played a real solid game in the Super Bowl, not quite Williams like, but he held his own. Wilson threw for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 26 yards.
As much as people will try to sweep this under the rug, this is a great win for a race at a prime position. Williams and Wilson are in the club, when will the next QB join? There is hope it will be sooner than later.
