The NBA All Star teams have been picked by the fans and coaches. Like every year we have a few misses and I’m here to highlight a few people who should be in the All Star game this year and who they should be replacing.
First off here are the NBA All Star Rosters. (In the link just in case you bypass it)
I’m going to start in the Western Conference. I’ll first point out the player that made it and then talk about a player or players depending on the position who should’ve been picked over the current All Star.
Made It- Chris Paul, Clippers, G- The reason he’s on here is because of the injury. He’s been hurt for damn near two months and hasn’t come back yet. He’s averaging a double and is still the best PG in the league. He’s averaging 19.6 ppg, 11.2 apg, 4.6 rpg and 2.4 spg.
Alternative- Goran Dragic, Suns, G- Dragic has been ballin’. Even with Bledsoe out he has kept ballin’ and currently has the Suns in the playoff hunt in the West. I know Goran isn’t better than Paul, but CP3 has been hurt most of the year. Dragic is averaging 20.1 ppg, 6.0 apg and 1.3 spg. The Suns are currently 7th in the West. We got to reward the players who deserve it right?
Alternative- Mike Conley, Grizzlies, G- My younger brother Mike has been ballin’ this year also. Conley has been the steady force in the backcourt for a team currently 9th in the West. He’s averaging 18.0 ppg, 6.3 apg and 1.6 spg this season. Coin toss between Dragic and Conley your choice who you take over CP3 currently.
Made It- Dirk Nowitzki, Mavs, F- Dirk has returned close to form and has been on fire as of late, but I think Monta Ellis is getting slighted by the NBA. They make a nice 1-2 punch. I don’t think Dirk is having a bad year, but the two players that I have picked as the alternatives deserve a shot. Nowitzki is averaging 22.0 ppg and 6.2 rpg this season.
Alternative- DeMarcus Cousins, Kings, C- I know Boogie plays for the Kings and currently the Kings suck, but we want to see our young stars get some shine man. Cousins is averaging 22.7 ppg, 11.6 rpg and 1.2 bpg. In my opinion he should maybe take Dwight Howard’s spot. Maybe I’m on to something here.
Alternative- Anthony Davis, Pelicans, F/C- Ron apologized to “The Unibrow” this year and I’m on the same ship. He should be an All Star. Davis is averaging 20.5 ppg, 10.5 rpg and 3.3 bpg this season. The Pelicans don’t have a good record so that may be the main reason he isn’t in the game. but the kid has been ballin’ If I had a vote I’d probably take Davis over Cousins, but both guys deserve to show of their talent All Star weekend.
Made It- Kobe Bryant, Lakers, G- First off I want to say Kobe’s my dog. He’s been hurt most of the year and the fans voted him in. We all know Kobe is the OG and this year he just doesn’t need to be an All Star. Stay out Kobe we need the Lakers to keep tanking so you have help next year.
Alternative- Monta Ellis, Mavs, G- Monta has been getting fleeced by the NBA just like Al Jefferson. This year Monta is playing his most complete ball and he should be rewarded for it. We know Monta can score, but this year he seems to be playing at a better pace. He is averaging 19.4 ppg, 5.8 apg and 1.8 spg. Let Monta in, he’s helping take a lot of pressure off of Dirk this year and the Mavs are currently 8th in the playoff race in the West.
We talked about the East yesterday, now we have tackled the West. The West had more players who have been playing at an All Star level. Let us know how you feel about our alternatives and if you feel others should be considered.
